Communion Cross, Emmaus
3" X 3" solid bronze imported from Germany
In the breaking of the bread, the two disciples on their way to Emmaus recognized the Risen Christ (Luke 24:13-35). This cross depicts that very moment of revelation. Today, with eyes of faith, we are still recognizing the Risen Christ in the “breaking of the bread.” The “breaking of the bread” is a fourfold action in the celebration of the Eucharist: taking the bread (offertory), blessing (Eucharistic prayer), breaking (rite of breaking the bread) and sharing (communion) of the bread (Christ’s Body) and the cup (Christ’s Blood) in the community of faith.
